Two killed in single-car crash in Armenia

Two people were killed in a New Year’s Day single-vehicle crash on a major highway in Armenia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The accident happened on Thursday, December 2, shortly before midnight, on Ashtarak-Gyumri highway.

The ministry says the Mercedes-Benz car left the roadway and hit rocks near the road.

Driver Avetis N. died at the scene, while Lyova M., a passenger in the car, died in the Astghik Medical Center later. 

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
