President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan has stated in a video message that “if it is war that Azerbaijan wants, then they are going to get one."
The president’s comments came hours after the Azerbaijani military launched a massive cross-border artillery attack on Artsakh, also targeting civilian areas, including capital city Stepanakert, as a result of which a woman and a child have been killed in Artsakh.
In a Facebook post earlier on Sunday the president said he had met with the first volunteers to discuss the border situation.
“I assure you that our Armed Forces stand firm in their positions and our response will be proportionate and strict. The entire responsibility for the situation lies with Azerbaijan’s military-political leadership and they will pay dearly for every loss,” he said. “This is a fight for life or death, which we accept as a nation and will win as a nation.”
