Levon Aronian takes part in Speed Chess Championship

Armenian GM Levon Aronian is taking part in the 2020 Speed Chess Championship online tournament, the Armenian National Olympic Committee reports.

GM Haik Martirosyan also represents Armenia in the junior event of the championship.

Aronian was invited to participate in the Speed Chess Championship, while Martirosyan managed to secure his place in the tournament after his successful performances in several qualification events.

Aronian is set to face Ian Nepomniachtchi on Wednesday, while Martirosyan will clash with Hikaru Nakamura on Thursday.

The 2020 Speed Chess Championship, a knockout tournament among 16 of the best grandmasters in the world, runs on Chess.com.
