The Artsakh police officer wounded in Sunday’s armed attack by Azerbaijani troops is in moderate condition and his life is not in danger, the Artsakh Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.
He remains in the intensive care unit of the Republican Medical Center in Stepanakert, Artsakh’s capital.
Lieutenant David Hovsepyan was severely injured and his three fellow officers were killed after an Azerbaijani sabotage group ambushed their vehicle near Stepanakert on Sunday morning.
Two Azeri soldiers were killed in the ensuing firefight which was stopped by Russian peacekeepers stationed in Artsakh.
The Artsakh Foreign Ministry called on the international community to take effective measure under international law to stop what it called Azerbaijan’s “terrorist and genocidal policy.”
