Expert: Vanetsyan's interview to Iranian media triggered outcry from Baku regime

Armenian politician Artur Vanetsyan's latest interview to the Iranian daily Shargh has triggered a fierce “response” from the Azerbaijani propaganda machine, Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan says.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Voskanyan, chair of Yerevan State University's Iranian studies department, claimed the Baku regime is afraid of a close Armenian-Iranian military and counter-terrorism cooperation Vanetsyan insisted on.

“Another important circumstance is the imperative of forming the Tehran-Yerevan-Moscow axis mentioned by Voskanyan which again does not fit in with the plans of Baku’s dictatorial regime seeking to deprive Armenia of any chance of resistance and viability, whereas its creation would undermine all such ambitions,” the expert wrote.

“Obviously, the Baku dictator is extremely worried about the presence of politicians who reject defeatism and promote a robust multi-component security strategy in Armenia, whose views are acceptable to Iran and, judging by the Russian state media reports, also to Russia,” he added.
