Pro-government MP confirms his candidacy for Armenia's ambassador to Russia

Pro-government MP Gurgen Arsenyan has confirmed that he has been nominated to be Armenia’s next ambassador to Russia.

“A candidate has to go through the relevant procedures in Armenia before being nominated for a position,” he told reporters on Tuesday when asked whether he had been proposed to become ambassador.

“It’s for me to decide whether to go or not,” added Arsenyan, who represents the ruling Civil Contract paty.

He denied reports that Russia had rejected his candidacy.
