Fallen Armenian soldier's father released from custody, placed under house arrest

Garik Galeyan, whose soldier son Mkhitar was killed in the 2020 Artsakh war, was released from pre-trial detention on Thursday.

Judge Masis Melkonyan of the Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction replaced detention with a bail of two million drams and two-month house arrest as measures of restraint against the man.

Galeyan, a critic of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government, has been charged with “hooliganism” and “use of drugs”.
