Opposition faction announces protest in Yerevan on Tuesday

The opposition Mother Armenian faction of the Yerevan City Council will stage a protest outside the Municipality on Tuesday morning.

The protest is triggered by plans of the Civil Contact and Republic factions to hike a number of local taxes and fees. 

"In order to prevent the impending price increases and plunder, Mother Armenia will hold a protest at the entrance to the Yerevan Municipality building on December 26, at 9 a.m.," the faction said in a statement on Saturday.

"Mother Armenia says "no" to plunder," it added.
