Former deputy army chief to be released on bail

Stepan Galstyan, a former deputy chief of the Armenian military’s General Staff, will be released on bail, his lawyer Andranik Manukyan said on Saturday.

“The court has granted a motion to release him on a bail of 25 million drams ($60,000),” the lawyer told Sputnik Armenia.

Galstyan was arrested in October 2021 as part of a criminal case into purchases of allegedly faulty weapons and ammunition for the Armenian armed forces which also involved former Defense Minister David Tonoyan and arms dealer David Galstyan.
