Pashinyan's regime accused of repressing protest movement activists

Activist Avetik Chalabyan accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s regime of repressing members and supporters of the Tavush for the Homeland protest movement.

“Yesterday, the ruling regime’s repression machine went into overdrive, targeting the movement activists, which resulted in the illegal and baseless arrest of two of our fellow fighters,” Chalabyan, co-founder of the Hayakve initiative, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

He reported that activist Mesrop Yesayan was placed under two-month house arrest after being released from custody as he and his wife welcomed their third child on Tuesday. Another protester, Gnel Petrosyan, was detained for one month and moved to the Armavir Penitentiary.

Chalabyan expressed solidarity with the two men, who have been actively involved in the movement pushing for Pashinyan’s ouster and a halt to his government’s territorial concessions to Azerbaijan.
