NSS says life of soldier injured in mine blast out of danger

The Armenian National Security Service (NSS) says the injuries sustained by its soldier in the village of Voskepar are not life-threatening.

The border guard, identified as Sergeant Narek Gareginyan, was injured in a mine blast near the Holy Mother of God Church on Thursday afternoon.

Journalist Voskan Sargsyan claimed that the explosion blew off the soldier’s foot.

“He is currently being transported to a Yerevan medical facility,” the NSS said in a statement.

A probe into the incident is underway.
