One killed, several wounded in house fire in Armenian town

One person was killed and four others were injured in a fire that broke out at a wooden residential building in Stepanavan, a town in Armenia’s Lori Province, the local administration reported, citing preliminary data.

The wounded individuals were hospitalized and one of them was discharged later. All residents of the building were evacuated following the fire.

Temporary accommodations have been arranged for the evacuated residents at a hotel. Authorities are currently assessing the needs for food, hygiene supplies and clothing distribution.

The Ministry of Health said later that six people injured in the fire sought hospital care.

One of them is in intensive care in grave but stable condition.
