MP: Ruben Vardanyan faced constant pressure from both Armenian and Azeri authorities

Businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan faced continuous pressure from both Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities during his time in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan claims.

"When discussing the statements made by the current government and its leader regarding our compatriots imprisoned in Baku, we must also recall the related developments surrounding Ruben Vardanyan’s appointment as Artsakh state minister,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

"During Azerbaijan’s blockade of Artsakh, even after his dismissal, Ruben Vardanyan remained under constant pressure and threats from both Azerbaijani and Armenian authorities. At the time, Armenia’s leadership mobilized its entire propaganda arsenal to force his resignation and discredit him.

“It seems that by going to Artsakh, Vardanyan disrupted certain covert plans, triggering a wave of opposition against him. I must also emphasize that he enjoyed great respect and trust among the people of Artsakh, which was a source of concern for certain circles both inside and outside the country. Freedom to all Armenians imprisoned in Baku!" the MP emphasized.
