Another Yerevan official arrested

Another official of Yerevan’s municipal administration was arrested on Tuesday as part of a corruption investigation conducted by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC), Yerevan Municipality spokesman Hayk Kostanyan said.

Hraparak identified the arrested official as Arsen Karoyan, head of the Municipality Communal Services Department.

Eight current and former municipal officials were arrested for bribery last month. Four of them were remanded in pre-trial custody, including Robert Darbinyan, former head of the Department of Urban Planning and Land Control, Mikayel Ghimoyan, head of the second territorial division of the same department, Aram Gyulzadyan, head of the Public Order Protection Service, and Aram Ayvazyan, former deputy head of the Department of Urban Planning and Land Control at the Yerevan Municipality.
