Armenian ombudsperson visits politician on hunger strike in central Yerevan

Armenian Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan on Tuesday visited politician Mane Tandilyan and two others on a hunger strike in Yerevan's central Liberty Square.

Her office reported that Manasyan inquired about their health conditions and any medical assistance they might need. She and representatives from her office outlined the scope of the ombudsperson's mandate and expressed their willingness to provide necessary support to them within their powers.

Tandilyan, co-founder of the Country of Living Party, began the strike on Saturday, urging former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan to end his hunger strike in a Baku jail. Additionally, her protest aims to draw international attention to the sham trials and mistreatment of Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan.
