Temperatures to hit 20C in parts of Armenia

Temperatures are set to rise further in Armenia as warm air masses from Iraq move into the country, affecting the entire South Caucasus over the next ten days, according to Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center at Armenia's Environment Ministry.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, the chief meteorologist stated that temperatures would increase by 10-13C between March 6 and 10, reaching up to 20C in Tavush, Ararat, Armavir and Vayots Dzor Provinces.

Highs of 17-19C are forecast for Yerevan on March 10.

“Dry weather will persist throughout the country for the next 10 days. Preliminary estimates suggest that precipitation is unlikely in Armenia until after March 16, and the total amount of rainfall is expected to be below the climatic average," Surenyan added.
