MP: Azerbaijan sets new condition for peace deal with Armenia

Azerbaijan has put forward another precondition for the conclusion of a peace agreement with Armenia, demanding that Yerevan take responsibility for being an “aggressor” and “occupier” and hand over individuals accused of “war crimes”, opposition Pativ Unem faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan says.

In a social media post on Saturday, Abrahamyan stated that during a recent trial in Baku, accusations were leveled against Armenia's second and third presidents, as well as high-ranking military officials, public figures and leaders of the national liberation movement.

"In a parallel development, Azerbaijan has intensified its campaign against third Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, implicating him in a fabricated criminal case. Essentially, Azerbaijan has now formalized yet another precondition for signing a ‘peace treaty’ with Armenia and establishing relations with the country," the MP wrote.

"This is yet another indication that Azerbaijan's true objective is not the normalization of relations with Armenia, but its complete removal from the political map," Abrahamyan added.
