Germany, Spain welcome conclusion of Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks

Spain and Germany have welcomed the conclusion of peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"Spain welcomes the news of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and hopes that this announcement will lead to the conclusion of a final agreement between the two countries. Spain reaffirms its commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus," the Spanish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The news that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on a peace agreement is cause for hope. After decades of hostility and war, the fact that lasting peace is now within reach is important for the region and beyond," German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock posted on X on Friday.

"After long negotiations, Armenia's courageous concessions make this final step on the path possible - a path we have accompanied both countries on. I call on both sides to now sign the peace agreemen," she added.
