MP: Pashinyan will call snap elections if ruling party loses in Gyumri

MP Hovik Aghazaryan, who was expelled from Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party in December 2024, has called the chief prosecutor's motion to strip him of immunity politically motivated.

"Pashinyan’s goal is to strip me of my parliamentary seat. However, there is a clear and realistic way for that to happen. If the Civil Contract party loses the municipal elections in Gyumri and the prime minister calls snap elections, everyone, including myself, will lose their seats," Aghazaryan told reporters on Wednesday.

He expressed confidence that a defeat for the Civil Contract party in the Gyumri City Council elections would push Pashinyan toward calling snap elections.
