Spy chief: Several countries pose threats to Armenia's independence and sovereignty

The primary role of the Foreign Intelligence Service is to gather, analyze and present intelligence data to Armenia’s political leadership, Kristinne Grigoryan, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, told reporters in the National Assembly on Friday. She noted that the issue of prisoners of war has also been a key focus of the agency’s work.

When asked to elaborate on specific actions taken regarding the matter, Grigoryan said, "Your request for details on the intelligence service’s work is inappropriate from a professional standpoint."

She emphasized that her agency’s primary duty is to assess external threats to Armenia and inform the public about existing risks within the limits of feasibility and security.

Regarding the possibility of an attack on Armenia, Grigoryan stated, "At this point, we do not see a full set of indicators suggesting a high probability of an attack. However, the situation is changing rapidly and we are closely monitoring the developments."

When asked which countries pose a threat to Armenia’s statehood, sovereignty and independence besides Turkey and Azerbaijan, Grigoryan responded, "The threats to Armenia’s independence and sovereignty come from several countries." However, she did not specify which countries she was referring to.
