Protest held outside US Embassy in Yerevan

A group of protesters gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Armenia on Saturday, holding posters that read "No to biological weapons!" and "U.S. labs pose a threat". Some posters featured photos of U.S. Ambassador Kristina Kvien, with protesters calling her a "globalist" and demanding her departure.

Protesters described the gathering as spontaneous. They laid flowers at the statue of Admiral Isakov before delivering speeches.

Hayk Nahapetyan, one of the participants, accused the U.S. ambassador of supporting police brutality during a protest in Yerevan on June 12 last year. "Leaders like Nikol Pashinyan will maintain their grip on power as long as such ambassadors remain," he stated, demanding that Kvien be declared persona non grata.

Another protester, Alla Hakobyan, proposed starting a formal process to declare Kvien unwelcome in Armenia. She also suggested that Armenians in the U.S. should take similar action against Ambassador Lilit Makunts.
