Armenian GM among leaders of European Individual Chess Championship

GM Gabriel Sargissian shares 1st-5th places after the 8th round of the European Individual Chess Championship in Romania.

On Sunday, Gabriel defeated French GM Paul Valten with black pieces and now has 6.5 points out of 8, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.

GM Haik Martirosyan is also among the leaders with 6 points after defeating Turkish GM Mustafa Yilmaz.

GM Robert Hovhannisyan and Shant Sargsyan ended their games in a draw and now have 5.5 points each.

There are 3 rounds left until the end of the championship.

The next round starta on March 24 at 5 p.m. Armenian time.
