Armenian GMs Gabriel Sargissian, Robert Hovhannisyan, Shant Sargsyan and Haik Martirosyan have qualified for the FIDE World Cup based on the results of the European Individual Chess Championship.
Gabriel scored 8 points out of 11 and took 7th place. Robert, Shant and Haik took 17th, 18th and 21st places, respectively, with 7.5 points, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.
German GM Matthias Bluebaum emerged as the champion, scoring 8.5 points. He made history by becoming the first chess player to win the European Individual Chess Championship for a second time.
