The Homeland Party on Tuesday issued a statement regarding the Our City bloc, which was formed by the Homeland and United Armenia Parties to contest the Gyumri municipal elections. Martun Grigoryan topped the bloc's election list.
According to the statement, both parties in the alliance fully supported the council candidate list headed by Grigoryan throughout the campaign, using all available resources to ensure its success.
"The Homeland Party stands by Martun Grigoryan’s public statements, particularly his commitment to securing votes for Vardan Ghukasyan’s election as community leader, and to preventing the return of the Civil Contract party to power in Gyumri," the statement read.
The party also made clear that any form of cooperation with the ruling Civil Contract party is strictly ruled out.
Regarding recent comments made by the leader of the alliance's other member party, the Homeland Party noted that those remarks represent personal opinions and do not reflect the official position of the alliance.
“We firmly believe that the swift removal of the Civil Contract party from power in Gyumri and across the country is essential for the Armenian people's security, unity and solidarity,” the statement read.
