Nurse undergoes surgery after ambulance crash in Yerevan

A nurse injured in an early morning ambulance crash in Yerevan has undergone surgery, according to pro-government MP Arsen Torosyan.

The tragic incident occurred at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, when the ambulance struck a utility pole. Its physician, Hasmik Ghazaryan, was killed in the crash, while the driver and the nurse sustained serious injuries.

Torosyan revealed the doctor was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, something that could have saved her life.

“I hope the investigation will uncover all the circumstances surrounding the accident,” the MP wrote on Facebook.

He called for better working conditions for medical workers, as well as adherence to traffic rules.

"It can literally save lives," Torosyan added.
