Withdrawal from EAEU will be painful for Armenians, Russian official says
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has commented on the possible consequences of Armenia's withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), warning that such a move would pose serious challenges to the Armenian population.
"If Armenia chooses the European path, it will inevitably require a revision of the established economic ties that currently exist within the EAEU between Yerevan and its partners. This is likely to be a rather painful process, unfortunately including for the Armenian people," Galuzin told Izvestia in an interview on Monday.
Earlier in April, Armenia's president signed into law a bill that sets a legal foundation for the country to move towards joining the European Union.
