Politician: Armenia's ruling party has no chance of re-election in 2026

Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country to Live party, stated that Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party is unlikely to win the 2026 parliamentary elections.

“The results of recent local elections and the government’s declining popularity make it clear that the ruling party has no chance of retaining power in 2026,” Arakelyan told reporters on Saturday following the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Parakar Mayor Volodya Grigoryan.

He claimed that the government's policies, particularly regarding national security and the economy, are expected to further weaken its position over the coming year.

“With effective work by the opposition, there is a real opportunity to form a new government in 2026,” Arakelyan remarked.
