Levon Azizyan, Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center at Armenia's Ministry of Environment, reports that an active cyclone has brought widespread rainfall across the country.
“Due to the powerful cyclone, heavy rains hit most parts of Armenia yesterday. In some parts of the Ararat Valley, precipitation reached 50-60% of the monthly average in just one day,” Azizyan noted.
He added that the cyclone will persist throughout the day and into the night, bringing thunderstorms and rains to Yerevan and all regions.
The deputy director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, Gagik Surinyan, reported that the cyclone is expected to weaken by the afternoon of April 24.
