Two separate proceedings involving Gyumri mayor, chief prosecutor says

Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan is currently facing two separate legal proceedings, a criminal case and a civil lawsuit for the confiscation of illicit property, according to Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan.

Speaking at a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs on Friday, Vardapetyan clarified that the lawsuit for the confiscation of illicit assets was filed in 2024. In addition, a criminal case involving Ghukasyan has already been submitted to court. The case stems from a criminal investigation launched in 2019 and is currently under judicial review.

“There are two separate proceedings,” the chief prosecutor stated.
