Six arrested for assaulting Armenian opposition activist, police say

Six men have been arrested following the assault on opposition activist Artur Chakhoyan at the Nor Nork district administration building in Yerevan.

According to reports, Chakhoyan was attacked by Nor Nork district head Tigran Ter-Margaryan, a member of the Republic Party, and several members of his staff on Wednesday. The incident occurred when Chakhoian attempted to attend a public hearing and confront the official over previous public insults.

“Six people have been arrested in connection with the incident. The relevant documentation is being prepared for submission to the investigative body,” the police told Panorama.am, adding that the identities of the detainees have yet to be confirmed.
