Analyst slams MP's move to tear up Pashinyan impeachment letter

Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan, head of the Voskanapat Analytical Center, has lambasted pro-government MP Arsen Torosyan for tearing up a letter calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s impeachment, describing it as a "misguided show of loyalty".

Earlier on Monday, members of the newly formed We Are Awake movement submitted letters to all 107 deputies in Armenia’s parliament, urging them to launch impeachment proceedings against Pashinyan.

“This is not the first time Torosyan has resorted to sycophancy. Just a month ago, he made offensive remarks on national television about the return of Artsakh Armenians to their homeland,” Melik-Shahnazaryan wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

"By tearing up the letter, as is often the case with displays of political flattery, Torosyan ultimately did a disservice to Nikol Pashinyan," the analyst stated. "If the goal of the traitors in power is to suffocate the impeachment initiative at its inception, Torosyan has deprived opposition MPs of even the slightest opportunity to express passive resistance. After all, who would want their name associated with Arsen Torosyan’s."
