Armenian MP: Baku accuses Moscow of breaching bilateral agreement

Following a recent incident at the forum of Russia's ruling United Russia party and a failed Azerbaijani provocation, Baku has shifted its rhetoric, first accusing Armenian politician Eduard Sharmazanov of representing "revanchist forces" and now targeting Russia with an information campaign, according to Armenian MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the opposition Pativ Unem faction.

Referring to the 2022 agreement on allied interaction between Russia and Azerbaijan, Abrahamyan noted that Baku is accusing Moscow of violating the terms of the document.

"What seems to have particularly infuriated Azerbaijan is Sharmazanov’s reference to the right of peoples to self-determination, something Baku considers a breach of the Russia-Azerbaijan declaration, especially given that the statement was made on Russian soil and during a meeting organized by the ruling party," he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

"In short, Azerbaijan will long remember its failed Moscow appearance and its desperate outcry has drawn little attention," the MP added.
