Ambassador: Armenia remains an 'ally and brotherly country' for Russia

Armenia remains an “ally and brotherly country” for Russia, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin has reiterated.

“I don’t know who is accusing whom of what. Our position has been repeatedly stated at the highest levels,” Kopyrkin told reporters at Yerevan’s Victory Park on Friday in response to criticism voiced by some Armenian officials.

He emphasized that Russia remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Armenia, particularly within the framework of Eurasian integration. “We are ready to further enhance these ties,” the diplomat stated.

When asked whether relations between Armenia and Russia have deteriorated in recent years, Kopyrkin acknowledged the shifting geopolitical landscape but stressed the importance of mutual commitment.

“We must face reality. Our relations must naturally adapt to new circumstances. But what’s most important is the political will on both sides to preserve the strong and deep foundation that exists,” he said.

Kopyrkin stressed the need to move forward based on mutual respect for sovereignty and national interests of both countries, pointing to the strategic goals that continue to unite the two nations.
