Pashinyan’s impeachment most viable path to regime change in Armenia, MP says

Impeachment proceedings against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are currently the most viable mechanism for change of power in Armenia, according to opposition MP Hayk Mamijanyan.

Speaking to reporters at Yerevan's Victory Park on Friday, the Pativ Unem faction MP emphasized that doing nothing is not an option.

“At the moment, the most viable path to regime change is a vote of no confidence in Nikol Pashinyan. The alternative is inaction which is simply unacceptable to us,” Mamijanyan said.

Responding to claims that certain political circles are attempting to sideline the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Mamijanyan attributed such efforts to the party’s nationalist ideology and historical significance.

“Perhaps we are perceived as a threat because we represent a national force. The recent history of Armenian statehood is inseparable from that of the RPA. Even during the Soviet era, our founding fathers fought for an independent and sovereign Armenia. They achieved victories in Artsakh and ensured national security. That legacy may be unsettling to some,” the MP said.

Mamijanyan warned critics and opponents that the RPA is resilient. “Many have tried to eliminate the Republican Party, but none have succeeded and no one ever will. We remain committed to our mission and will continue our struggle," he added.
