Armenian government to allocate 67.5 million drams for EU norm approximation

The Armenian government will allocate 67.5 million drams to the Urban Development Committee to support the approximation and localization of seven EU norms, its chairman Yeghiazar Vardanyan announced at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The funding will serve as an advance payment for initiating the alignment process with EU standards in several key areas, including public road networks, transport infrastructure, railways, ventilation, heating and air circulation systems, airports, electric vehicle charging stations, firefighting systems, geodetic surveys and fire safety regulations for buildings and structures.

Vardanyan emphasized that the goal is to engage both an international organization with experience in developing EU norms and a qualified local partner. The collaboration will be established through an international tender.

“Once the approximation process is complete, Armenia will have adopted European standards,” he added.
