Vegetable prices surge in Armenia

The Statistical Committee of Armenia has released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January-April 2025, revealing a sharp rise in the cost of essential goods and services across the country.

According to the report, consumer prices increased by 3.2% in the first four months of this year. Notably, food products and non-alcoholic beverages saw a 5.2% increase, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 4.2%.

High inflation was recorded among essential food items. Vegetable prices surged by 28%, with potatoes experiencing the steepest climb at 41.4%. Fruit prices also jumped by 13.6%, while butter became 12.8% more expensive.

Meanwhile, chocolate prices rose by 10.9%, coffee by 17.3%, and cocoa and chocolate powder by 13.9%. Transportation costs were another major contributor to overall inflation, rising by 25% in four months.
