Armenia's economy grew by 5.2% in the first quarter of 2025, according to data released by the Statistical Committee of Armenia on Friday. The growth was primarily driven by strong performances in the financial and insurance sector, which surged by 27.5%, and the construction sector, which recorded a 14% increase.
However, the industrial sector, particularly mining and manufacturing, faced significant setbacks. Mining output fell by 10.5%, while the manufacturing sector experienced a contraction of 21.2%. As a result, the broader industrial sector, which also includes energy production, saw a decline of 12.4%.
Meanwhile, imports dropped by 38.8%, while exports plummeted by 47.6% in the first quarter.
