Deputy FM hails Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting as 'constructive'

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan described the recent meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Albania as "constructive," emphasizing their commitment to advancing the peace process.

The talks were held on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Tirana on 16 May.

“The two leaders expressed their willingness to continue discussions toward signing a peace agreement," Kostanyan told reporters on Monday.

The deputy minister voiced optimism that negotiations with Azerbaijan could resume in the near future.

When asked about Pashinyan's invitation to Aliyev to join him for a coffee at the summit, Kostanyan dismissed it as secondary.

“I don’t think the coffee table was the point,” he said. “What truly matters is that the two leaders continued their dialogue on the peace agenda, the conclusion of a peace treaty and the overall advancement of the peace process.”
