A deadly road accident occurred on the Aparan-Kuchak highway in Armenia early on Thursday morning, involving an Opel passenger car and a Volkswagen minibus. The crash triggered a fire and resulted in one fatality and 12 injuries.
According to the Interior Ministry’s Rescue Service, the fire that engulfed the Opel was contained at 8:34 a.m. and extinguished at 8:47 a.m. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the flames.
Twelve people were taken to a hospital. Eleven of the injured are being treated at the Aparan Medical Center with various fractures. A 27-year-old victim in critical condition is being airlifted to Yerevan.
Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan also reported on a separate accident in Vanadzor, where five were injured. Two are in critical condition in intensive care, while two others sustained minor injuries and were not hospitalized.
Authorities urge drivers to adhere to traffic safety rules, reduce speed and always wear seatbelts to help prevent such tragedies.
