Serzh Sargsyan: Pashinyan's impeachment process hasn't failed

Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has commented on the ongoing efforts to impeach Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Speaking to reporters at the Komitas Pantheon, where he was paying tribute to former Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan on his birthday on June 12, Sargsyan offered cautious remarks on the matter.

"I'm still refraining from speaking to the matter," Sargsyan noted when asked about the position of the opposition Hayastan faction regarding the impeachment proceedings.

The former president strongly rejected the claims that the process was doomed to fail from the start. "Of course not. Who said that?" he said.

Sargsyan emphasized that the impeachment effort is already underway. "The process began a long time ago. We've announced that we will bring it to the parliament once we have 54 signatures. 36 is irrelevant," he stated.
