Pashinyan orders arrest of Samvel Karapetyan; special forces raid his home

According to sources cited by Panorama.am, special forces have raided the residence of Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the Tashir Group of Companies. The raid took place on Ulnetsi Street in Yerevan's Monument district, where Karapetyan’s private home is located. The area is currently in a state of commotion.

 

A law enforcement source told Panorama that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had ordered Karapetyan to be "laid down on the asphalt" in response to the businessman's public statement

in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church made earlier on Tuesday.

 

Earlier, Pashinyan had criticized Karapetyan on social media, while members of the ruling Civil Contract party launched verbal attacks against him from the parliament floor.

 

Experts describe the actions against Karapetyan as political persecution.
