Parliament speaker: Pashinyan to pay a 'historic visit' to Turkey

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is scheduled to visit Turkey on June 20 at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan has announced.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Simonyan confirmed that the invitation was extended by Erdogan.

"It's for the prime minister's office to release further details. All regional issues will be on the table. This visit is historic as it marks the first time an Armenian leader is making a visit of this level to Turkey," the speaker said.

Simonyan also addressed regional security concerns, stating: “The risk of war today is minimal. We must work to eliminate it entirely and the Armenian government is taking concrete steps to the end. I believe the prime minister’s upcoming visit to Turkey is one such step.”
