Armenia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case into an incident in which journalist Meri Manukyan was struck by a police officer at a protest on June 16.
The case has been initiated under Article 441.2 of the Criminal Code, pertaining to abuse of powers under aggravating circumstances, lawyer Ruben Melikyan said on Wednesday.
Manukyan has been formally recognized as a victim in the case. She has undergone questioning and a forensic medical examination as part of the investigation.
“At this point, we have no further details regarding the course of the investigation,” Melikyan added.
