Armenian MP warns of grave consequences from possible strikes on Iran's nuclear sites

Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has expressed deep concern over the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, warning that any strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities would have dire consequences not only for Iran but also for its neighbors, including Armenia.

At a press briefing on Friday, he noted that targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could lead to uncontrollable developments and broaden the scope of the conflict. "These issues have no military solution. No matter how serious the problems are, they must be resolved peacefully and through diplomacy," he emphasized.

Commenting on the recent protests by families of missing soldiers outside the National Assembly, Abrahamyan criticized the lack of communication from Armenia’s new NSS chief, stressing that under former director Armen Abazyan, the cases were being addressed with direct involvement.

The opposition MP also condemned the Armenian leadership’s campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church and businessman Samvel Karapetyan, warning such actions undermine national identity and institutional memory.

He urged compassion and support for Iranians forced to flee due to the conflict and criticized the lack of transparency around Prime Minister Pashinyan’s ongoing visit to Turkey. “Evidently, Armenia is contributing to Turkey’s growing regional influence,” he added.
