'We will continue to fight': Samvel Karapetyan issues new statement

Prominent businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan issued a new statement via his legal team on Saturday. The statement reads as follows:

"What have the current authorities achieved?

Part 1

The day a detention order was issued against me turned out to be one of the most revealing days of my life. Let me explain why.

With my own eyes, I witnessed the agitation of the investigator, who was obviously forced to fabricate charges against me, after the court announced its decision to detain me. I saw the seasoned prosecutor's despair throughout the entire hearing. And finally, I observed the demeanor of the broken judge, who listened to the illegal accusations and hollow arguments with feigned surprise and occasional contempt, trying to appear impartial and independent.

Then, after four hours of deliberation, the judge proved to be dependent and powerless.

But it's all right because Armenian courts will be independent soon.

We will continue to fight.”
