The Iranian people demonstrated unity and resilience during the 12-day war imposed by Israel, according to Bahram Taheri, Iran’s Deputy Ambassador to Armenia.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Taheri stated that the Iranian nation rallied around its armed forces and government institutions, effectively defending itself. “In the end, the enemy was compelled to agree to a ceasefire,” the diplomat noted.
He added that the ceasefire came into effect on Tuesday morning and is largely being observed by both sides.
“We will uphold the ceasefire as long as our adversary does the same. However, if there is any renewed aggression against Iran, our response will be significantly more painful,” the diplomat warned.
When asked whether Iran might emerge weakened from the conflict, Taheri responded: “Absolutely not. In fact, national unity and solidarity in Iran are stronger today than ever. Our determination to defend our homeland has never been higher.”
He emphasized that Iran has not shown any signs of vulnerability. “If there had been any weakness among the people or within state institutions, the attacks would have continued. It was precisely our strength that forced Israel to conclude that a ceasefire was in its interest.”
According to the deputy ambassador, Israel failed to achieve its strategic objectives. “Their aim was to undermine Iran’s sovereignty. They did not succeed," he added.
