11 Covid cases confirmed in Armenia in two weeks

The World Health Organization (WHO) has added the Omicron subvariant XFG to its list of Variants Under Monitoring (VUMs), according to its report published on Wednesday.

The XFG subvariant has so far been detected in 38 countries, with Canada reporting the first case. Since then, it has shown rapid spread, particularly in the United States and several countries across Asia. Despite its growing presence, WHO currently assesses the public health risk associated with XFG as low.

The situation remains under control and the variant is being closely monitored.

Armenia’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 11 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the country over the past 14 days, marking a slight decrease of two cases compared to the previous two-week period. The test positivity rate stood at 11%.
