Armenian parliament majority approves fines for fare evasion

The pro-government majority in the Armenia National Assembly adopted all bills on the agenda at a special session on Thursday.

Among many others, the ruling Civil Contract party MPs passed a bill introducing fines of 15,000 drams for public transport fare evasion.

Lawmakers also approved amendments and supplements to several other laws, including the Criminal Code, laws on cultural heritage protection, procurement, and economic competition. The parliament ratified agreements with Russia and the Asian Development Bank, and passed legislative changes concerning military service, police, public utilities regulation and anti-money laundering measures.

The session concluded after the adoption of all proposed legislative measures.
