Saakashvili: Pashinyan did what I didn't do after failed war

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili claims the current situation in the South Caucasus is a direct result of Russia's weakening in Ukraine.

“After an unsuccessful war, [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan did in Armenia what I had failed to do in 2011-2012; he detained the Armenian Ivanishvili, billionaire Samvel Karapetyan,” Saakashvili wrote on Facebook on Monday, drawing a parallel with Georgia’s political landscape.

According to Saakashvili, Pashinyan has officially set Armenia on a course toward EU membership following Samvel Karapetyan’s detenetion.

The former Georgian leader also noted that among the South Caucasus countries, Azerbaijan has begun strengthening its cooperation with NATO and now sees Russia as a direct threat.

“Moreover, Azerbaijan and Armenia have begun a reconciliation process, delivering the hardest blow to Russia to date. In this context, Georgia emerges as a complete outlier,” he stated.
