Lawyer condemns 'unlawful' searches at Narek Karapetyan's home, ENA HQ

Lawyer Aram Vardevanyan has condemned a sweeping series of "unlawful searches" launched on Tuesday morning, including raids at the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) and the home of its board chairman Narek Karapetyan, the nephew of prominent businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan.

"Since early this morning, we’ve witnessed a wave of unlawful searches," Vardevanyan told reporters, emphasizing that while such actions may no longer surprise the public, they remain a serious legal intrusion that must be justified, necessary and proportionate under the law.

According to Vardevanyan, the investigations primarily target members of the Karapetyan family, with particular focus on Narek Karapetyan. However, it remains unclear what exactly the authorities are searching for.

"What I can confirm is that two items deemed 'dangerous' were seized during the searches – two hats. I’m sure there’s overwhelming public interest in this revelation," he added sarcastically.
